The minister Tanya Plibersek from Australia visits Slovenia.

The minister for Slovenians Abroad, Ljudmila Novak on October 1, 2012 accepted in her office the Australian Federal Minister Tanya Plibersek.

Tanya Plibersek is a long time member of the Australian House of Representatives representing the seat of Sydney, New South Wales. She is also the minister for health and the first Slovene Australian to reach the position of a minister in the Australian government.

The ministers Novak and Plibersek talked about the great importance of maintaining the Slovenian culture in Australia and talked about the great drop in activities in Slovenian clubs and schools in Australia. The ministers talked in the Slovenian language, as the Australian minister is fluent in the language of her ancestors. The visit of the minister Tanya Plibersek is one in a series of events which are increasingly connecting the two countries, but the main goal of her visit as being the health minister was to implement the agreement on health care in both countries.

Minister Tanya Plibersek during her visit to Slovenia already held a visit with the Slovenian health minister Tomaž Gantar and the President of the Slovenian Government Janez Janša. In the upcoming days she will meet the President of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk.
