Minister Ljudmila Novak visited the Slovenian community in the USA

In November 2012, Ljudmila Novak the minister for Slovenians abroad visited the Slovenian community in the USA and in the state of Ohio officialy opened the headquarters of the innovation office of CE PolimaT and the Slovenian-American Business Association in the Akron Global Business Accelerator.

The official opening of the innovation office of CE PolimaT and the Slovenian-American Business Association in the Akron Global Business Accelerator took place on November 26, 2012. The event was featured by the attendence of a number of distinguished guests including Ms. Ljudmila Novak, the Minister for Slovenians Abroad, Ms. Mary Taylor, Lt. Governor of the State of Ohio, investors, local business partners, representatives of the University of Akron and representatives of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron with whom CE PoliMaT will sign a Memorandum of Understanding. The Centre of Excellence for Polymer Materials and Technologies ensures the transformation of research excellence into products and services in high-tech niche markets, as well as supporting job creation and the transition to a low-carbon society. Following the opening of the innovation office of CE PoliMaT, the Minister Ljudmila Novak also launched a startup workshop for the Centres of Excellence for PoliMaT, BIK and EN-FIST, all partners in the COINVEST project. The workshop, taking place after the opening, was dedicated to the introduction of startup ideas to US investors and representatives of the Akron Global Business Accelerator (AGBA), the Akron BioMedical Corridor, the Greater Akron Chamber and the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron. The event was an excellent opportunity for the Centres to carry out a number of business and scientific meetings.

 

 

Besides visiting the state of Ohio the minister Ms. Novak visited the Slovenian community in the states of Minneapolis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and also stayed in Cleveland, which is considered to be the biggest Slovenian city outside Slovenia. The Slovenians living in the USA were very honoured with her visit and expressed great satisfaction with the minsiter's visit. Minister Novak was satisfied to see how the Slovenians in the USA work hard to preserve the Slovenian language, culture and the Slovenian cuisine.
